Nervous about Pet Travel via Cargo: Dr. Nelva Bryant is here to help!

Dogs traveling by airplane

I get it, it’s normal to be nervous when you think about transporting your pet via cargo.

It’s the fear of the unknown, right?

As with most situations in life, the outcome is unknown.

Who knows what’s going to happen when you wake up in the morning? We hope to make it home safely at the end of the day.

How do we make it home safely?  We subconsciously follow safety procedures that we learned, such as: wearing a seat belt while driving; following the rules of the road, etc.

Unfortunately, when it comes to pet travel via cargo, no one has ever taught us how to prepare.

You book the flight, get a travel crate, get a pet travel health certificate, and that’s it…….right?

This has been the process for years and it’s been successful for many pets being transported worldwide.

Believe it or not, there are more positive outcomes than the negative ones…..but you’ll never hear about it.  The negative outcomes become embedded in our brains, and this leads to fear.

How can we remove this fear?  We must learn how to prepare our pets for air travel, and the steps must become so routine that we follow them subconsciously.

Well, that’s where I can help!!!

My name is Dr. Nelva J. Bryant.  I am an Airline Industry Veterinarian and Pet-centric Travel Expert.

I have been working in the airline industry since 2018.  I know pet travel regulations (yes, it’s regulated) and airline policies, I’ve seen the process of pet travel via cargo, and I know what the cargo hold looks like. I’ve also analyzed pet air travel data captured by the US Department of Transportation.   Based upon this insight, I know pets are not adequately prepared for air travel.  Pet-centric travel education is needed to ensure pets make it to their destinations safely.  Thus, I have developed “When Pets Fly”, a resource for pet-centric travel education available on Facebook, Instagram, and the website is at: www.whenpets.com  My materials focus on your four-legged family member who’s traveling with you, and teaches ways to prepare your loved one for a great journey.
